The use of essential oils dates back to the ancient civilizations of Egypt, China and India. These oils, also called essential oils, are extracted from flowers, leaves and grasses. Their often powerful aromas can affect your mood, contribute to mental resilience and create a pleasant atmosphere in your home.
What makes essential oils so special is their versatility. You can use them in ways that suit you: add a few drops to your bath water, use them in a massage oil or diffuse their scent with an aroma burner. Essential oils work by activating the limbic system in the brain, which can have a positive effect on relaxation, pain relief, skin care and more.

Because of this reason, the advice is to combine an essential oil with a base oil, mix 2-6 drops of oil with 10 ml of base oil such as jojoba or almond oil. Try the oil first on a spot on the skin (preferably in the elbow crease).

Footbath: For a foot bath, mix 2 drops of essential oil with 2 tablespoons of sea salt or 5ml of neutral bath oil. Put this mixture in a bowl of water.
- Dilution: Essential oils are highly concentrated and should rarely be applied directly to the skin. Always mix them with a carrier oil at a dilution of 1-5%.
- Allergic reactions: Test a small amount of diluted oil on the skin before using it on larger areas.
- Intake: Not all essential oils are suitable for internal use, and their use should only be done under the guidance of a qualified professional.
- Use in children and pregnant women: Some oils, such as rosemary and sage, can be dangerous for pregnant women or young children. Always consult a specialist.
